I speculated in Alpha's "where is my Micra" thread that the Micras headed for Canada might be getting special quality control treatment.

I would be surprised if the Canadian cars aren't getting some additional scrutiny. (At very least the early ones off the line.)
This was confirmed yesterday at the Micra launch in Montreal: there's an additional inspection done by technicians when the car arrives in Canada, before being distributed to dealers.

I didn't ask how long this would go on, but it's not unusual for an additional layer of quality control when a new car is introduced. EG: the new Mitsubishi Mirage (assembled in Thailand) gets special inspections for all cars destined for the Japanese home market, forever. The U.S. bound cars are also getting additional inspections, but only for the first 6 months of production.
