I thought I'd share a couple of words here as I just came back from my first road trip with my micra.
Purchased the cheapest bike rack for the hatch, tied up two bikes and went on a 2500 km roadtrip around Gaspesie and a bit of N.B... it was definitely an interesting ride as my car was PACKED, and even managed to get two hitch-hikers for a 400 km ride. There were some steep hills to climb I had to downshift all the way down to second speed. I unfortunately scratch my right front side bumper, more paint than anything, but I'll need to take care of it somehow.
FYI lot of people talk about crosswind and stability, this car has awesome stability when its packed for a road trip, even empty it's nothing worst than any other hatchback.
