Yep. I regularly order stuff from just about everywhere on the planet and I find it's a bit of a crap shoot. USPS (or any international courier that hands off to CanPost for final) you will not get a bill if the declared value is under $100, sometimes you get lucky with higher values. If you do get a bill it will be for HST.
All couriers that don't hand off, you will get a bill for ''brokerage'' or whatever their in house jargon is for the shaft... and the amount varies widely and seems to follow no pattern that I can discern.
