2015 Nissan Micra SR (manual) Review - Mississauga Life

"Half the size, twice the fun!"

With a subtitle like that, there's little suspense figuring out whether reviewer Jay Kana liked the Micra.

Yet he still manages to say something ludicrous about the car that will leave you shaking your head and wondering whether it's just a matter of poor communication or silly judgment. (I'll get to that in a second...)

    Liked

    - SR has pizzaz and style
    - lots of options
    - driver's arm rest
    - value

    Disliked

    - rear seat room
    - S model looks basic
    - front headrest angle too far forward

    The questionable quote?

You just can’t fit four adults in there and expect a comfortable ride for the two in the rear.
Really? He recommends limiting the car to 3 people without explaining this silly statement. The rear seats are just as wide as the fronts (arguably wider, since it's a "bench" and you can splay out more than in front), the headroom is OK even for 6-footers, so what's the issue? Legroom, possibly? Maybe if you've got the driver's seat all the way back... but he doesn't say.

He's going to be happy about the front headrest angle if he ever gets rear-ended.

In our culture obsessed with absurd excess, the Nissan Micra is my counterculture car of choice.

    Truth.

I don't remember finding the headrest to be intrusive.

This is why I tell people they have to take reviewer complaints with a giant grain of salt: so much of what they say is based on their personal, subjective reactions.

Ha! Yup, another brilliant observation from an auto writer.

Also, it's marketing. How else does Nissan get people to shell over more for the top trim car if they all come with skirts, spoilers & alloy wheels?
