If I had gone with a Motomaster oil filter at $3.97 and cheap bulk 5W30 oil on sale at $3.97 per liter, adding in the price of the crush washer, each equivalent dealer oil change costs me $18.86, so that's a savings of $21.14. I can perform a complete oil change in my Micra in 10 minutes (as long as I'm not shooting a video of me doing it), so until I'm able to earn over $126 per hour working on a Sunday afternoon (a time that's most convenient for me), it's definitely worth it for me to change my own oil and do my own car wash after. It's also more fun and more satisfying.
In our culture obsessed with absurd excess, the Nissan Micra is my counterculture car of choice.
