My 2016 Micra just hit 60,000 kms & on my last oil change/service visit it was noted my front brake pads
were down to 3 mm & rotors are rusty. I didn't know this until watching a youtube video that those grooves in the
center of the pad indicate wear, I think the groove indicates 2mm left when its' gone.
I did my own inspection & found the outer passenger side was @ 3mm the rest closer to 5mm.
I has also noticed a bit of grinding noise & "grabby" when coming to a complete stop so decided to replace.
I checked Canadian tire & a single coated rotor was about 73$ each (not on sale)
RockAuto has been mentioned on this forum so I checked it out.
They only had the economy non-coated rotor kit & ceramic pads for 40$!
Seemed too good to be true, turns out US $ & shipping extra.
I selected the coated rotors kit & it only took a few days to be available
Total price to BC with taxes & shipping 98$ Canadian.
Id say the install went well as the rotors were not rusted to the hubs.
The inner surface of each rotor had uneven wear pattern/rings possibly caused by the rust cutting away the pad.
Braking is excellent & smooth now.
It should mentioned the dealer quoted around 500$ for the same service.
I already had the copper anti-seize compound & brake grease which is not cheap but should be used.
