Sorry for the triple post, but I haven't been here in a while and got a little excited.
So I went out to find the worst part of my condenser coil to photograph. The top part is absolutely perfect; I now wonder if a protection screen is even needed.
I looked along the bottom for the worst part, and then photographed it:
As you can see, some smaller debris has managed to pass through and has caused some minor bending of the fins. This is after over 72,000 kilometers, and I've already replaced the license plate cover once, and the second one has a nasty "Bullet hole" stone chip.
I probably should run some water through the condenser coil with my hose to flush out the tiny stones and debris that did manage to embed itself, but by and large, I think it's done its job admirably well. No signs of melting, and the mesh is holding up well.
In our culture obsessed with absurd excess, the Nissan Micra is my counterculture car of choice.
