Google "Air Bag Injuries" and you may change your mind. You don't want to have one hit you unless it is absolutely necessary.
Are you talking about the Takata recall?
I've had my VIN checked and mine does not appear to be subject to any active recalls, including the mechanical key one just recently.
no, its the one where you slam the door and the airbag goes off becuase it lost communication with the sensor.
On certain vehicles, a bad connection at the side airbag sensor connector could cause a momentary communication loss from the side airbag sensor to the Airbag Control Unit (ACU). This would put the system in a backup state, lowering the impact threshold required for a side airbag deployment. If a door is being closed with force while the system is in this backup state, this could cause an unintended curtain airbag, seat-mounted side airbag and seat belt pretensioner deployment in a non-warranted (non-impact) situation, which would increase the risk of injury to occupants. Correction: Dealers will install a jumper harness and replace the side airbag sensor with a new one.
whats the mechanical key recall ?

After putting it off for a few months I finally had it done this summer. Wasn't thrilled with the idea of they taking apart a bunch of things on the car but better safe than sorry in the case of the airbags.
