Just a heads up. Started noticing a smell I couldn't place, but I knew from somewhere.
Then the overheating light came up, quite a shock as, at most, the fans would turn on only after extended periods under the blistering sun, no high temperature light, yet here I was, on a rainy and cold day, having overheating issues. Stopped as soon as possible, and to my dismay almost all of my antifreeze/coolant was gone, and I had just checked my levels a couple days ago as I added a quart of oil. Bought a gallon, refilled, and after getting home, an inspection revealed he smell was actually coolant being burned, and there were splotches of it all over the low section of the engine bay. Fearing a radiator puncture I took it to a radiator shop, there I was told it was not the actual radiator but the engine water intake, so I took it to my trusty mechanic.
He ended up replacing the engine water intake, seals, the thermostat as it was misbehaving, and the pipe clamps.
Overheating issue gone. Just a heads up, my March has +77000 km on the clock. Might be because I drove a pigfat van while my car was at the workshop, but the car feels pretty nimble now.
Pictures of the parts replaced, and the thermostat part number.
