Welcome to the site Matt. I definitely think the Micra would be a very fun car to tinker with and mod.

You shouldn't have any trouble finding a base S. A year ago when they first came out, people were having to wait weeks and weeks (sometimes months) to get exactly the trim & colour they wanted, but we haven't heard any stories like that in quite a while.

Where do you live? I'd just call around and I'm sure you can find a base S on dealer lots.

I didn't get to the auto show this year so haven't seen the Micra Cup race car yet. If you've been importing JDM cars, what about hunting for one of these instead?

Keep us posted on your search!

    Darin

It's a Micra, the only car in its class with a rich history that goes all the way back to the Japanese small car revolution that took over in the late 70's to early 80's. Not only has it kept its name, it's also kept its proportions and shape; no sedans allowed.

In our culture obsessed with absurd excess, the Nissan Micra is my counterculture car of choice.
