This procedure detailed in the sticky DOES WORK. You just need to follow the instructions exactly. Initially I tried it and it didn't work (I guess I was a bit sceptical) but I thought about it awhile then went back and tried again, following exactly the number of seconds specified in each step. Lo and behold the light started flashing. Faith can move mountains.
