As discussed in the -adding-a-cabin-air-filter- thread, the Micra/March doesn't come with a cabin air filter, thing which is a concern to some us members. Given the options: ''You can install a Fram part# CF 10709 or a champion # caf1820p. Actaully the inside dimension are 8 "3/4 x 8 ". You have to compess it to fit it threw the 5 " opening'' By Jimicra68 and ''I found this Nissan part for it: 27891-EL00A''(not really made for the k13) by Ibarouf, I made the choice to go with the Nissan part.(Shipping from the stores in North America to South wasn't regarded as a possibility, so I just went to the dealer and asked for it)
The parts and accessories guy seemed to have heard about the ''mod'' so I didn't give it much thought about giving it a go.
First of all I want to clarify it worked, the Nissan cabin air filter part: 27891-EL00A made for the Tiida and Versa models, fits and does a good job filtering the air coming from outside, and recycled.
However, I'm sure it is not having a tight fit inside the housing, Issue that I'll address in a moment...
First I hat to cut some of the filter's plastic frame to make it fit in, its easy to get the exact leght, just put the housing cap beside the side that has to be cut and make a mark.
(Pic after cutting)
(part cut off)Carefully cut the filter off the frame with a paper blade cutter.
After this, I attempted to put the filter in place but it didn't go all the way in, so I guesstimated the amount to cut from the other side.
Cut it and was good to go. (this plastic is extremely easy to go through with one of those ''pocket'' saws for little wooden projects)
I also took the foam from the filter part i cut off and put it on the original housing lid.
So, it fitted perfectly.
But when I pushed it all the way in it kinda ''fell''. That's why I say it doesn't have a tight fit.
This may not happen if I hadn't cut that much. I is very difficult to take appropriate measurements(I'll take some tomorrow) but by now I'll guesstimate(again) it has to be cut not on the middle of the guide but on the edge of it.
So, again, it does work. As it should? I don't know, nobody does, there's no factory filter for these cars nor aftermarket(specific for this model) yet, the Nissan accessories guy who sold me the filter mentioned there's a local production of air cabin filters (in the early stages) for the Micra.
How do I know it works? Well, when I used to use the A/C(with recycled air mode), you'd feel the ''new car'' scent, not anymore , but hey, it means it's working.
Do I think it'd catch pollen and dust? I'm not positive about it(as there's no tight fit in the housing). However, this filter I got doesn't seem to have a very tight fit in the cars it was originally designed for, either(to me).
What do I recommend? Get the biggest cabin air filter you cat fit through the 2cmx13cm opening. It should be 23cm wide, tall? that's what really you have to squeeze through the opening so I leave that to you guys.
I'm happy with my filter, I don't allow air from outside more than once a month(I live in a very polluted city), and I'm sure It's going to do a better work than the no filter the car came with.
I hope my experience has helped you.
