First problem with the car... (clicking from steering wheel)

When I turn my steering wheel to the left there is a clicking sound, and it keep clicking until I stop turing the wheel. The sound seem to come from inside the steering wheel inside the dash close to the edge of it.

Not sure what that is. It was not doing this before and it does not do it when I turn right, only when I turn left. Any idea what it could be?

Ok this is not my car but mine is doing the exact same thing, only when I turn left:

Similar problem with a Tesla. Issue with a shim in the steering column and the left turn signal clicker.

Ehow says it could be a CV joint. Probably a faulty part, given the vehicle is almost new.

This post at Benzworld.org indicates it could be a clock spring.

    Good luck!

I guess many things could cause some sort of clicking sound but all those you posted are a bit different from what I have. Only the link I posted is the same. The Tesla sound does not come on all the time, mine does. As long as I am turning left it keeps clicking.

I doubt it's the CV joint as it's really coming from the steering wheel column, not from the wheel.

It could be the same issue as in the third link, as it seem to be doing the same thing as my car. I will have it checked at the dealer.

that or the airbag triggering while I am driving! or not triggering if I have a collision, that would be no better.

Ok, it's getting worse. Now it's doing it when I turn both ways.

The problem with my car steering doing the rachet sound was solved. Nobody, and I mean nobody, will ever guess what the problem was....

want to try? I give you a hint, it's none of the possible explanation given in this thread...

Something fell in between the steering wheel and the plastic shroud around the column?
