adding a cabin air filter (no filter present from the factory)

So I had some free time this afternoon, I decided to take a look at the glove box (planning a light mod) and check out the in cabin air filter. I popped the cover off the place where the in cabin air filter lives, and found that it's EMPTY!

I called up the dealership, and they advised me that no early production Canadian Micra's come with an in-cabin air filter, and that the manuals are generic.

See for yourself if this is the case. Meanwhile, I'm going be busy sourcing a suitable aftermarket filter.

    For reference, here's the cover:

Doesn't look like the Versa one will work, but a generic one the right size just might...

EDIT: The box is 23cm wide, and the opening is 13cm high.

Huh.. Well thats neat. I didnt even think of it. I did a "light mod" in mine. .One of those clicky led lights you stick with tape.. XD

But Id like to do that as more of a single led, and add in one for the rear.. The front dome doesnt give any light to the rear..

I think I'll put a plunger switch in the glove box, with an LED in the back of the box. You're right, the backseat needs a light too.

I can help with that cost and also supply you with a part number that works for the Micra and the Versa Note.
First, the cost in Alberta is $37.05 before Taxes, dunno if that will be the same across Canada. And the part
    # is 27277-1HD0B

    Hope that helps!

37 dollars fora 5 dollar airfiler seems a bit expensive....and im still standing with the "abyss" the air filter falls into if you dont have an AC condenser "in the way"...probably that why they never came with one.....u should be wearing a mask these days anyway...so if u or the car has a changable filter ...its all good
    2015 Micra S (manual)
    no A/C /no power options/ block heater/4x 2 Ohm speakers...all factory stock in 2015
    Feb 2015 build
    9,999 purchase price + tax..no additional 1600$ because it was a 2015 purchased in 2016
so receipt says $8,399....+1600 .... so they look good i guess...for a brand new car!

I've never really understood the need for these myself. Yeah, maybe if you live in a real dusty or dirty area it would be nice. But, how often do you drive with the windows down? Its the same air...

Driving on the 401 every day, it would help to filter the crap spewed by the diesel burners.
