Micra reviews: we've summarized over 50 reviews/test drives of the Micra. Also read reviews from actual Micra owners here.

    ---

With the 2015 Micra starting at $9998, Nissan has lobbed a bombshell into the cheap car segment in Canada.

Previously, the Nissan Versa was on the list as the least expensive sedan in the country, in the middle of two hatchbacks in terms of MSRP.

But with the cancelled Versa sedan to be replaced by the Micra, Nissan has gone from second cheapest new car overall to "HAHAHA! NOBODY CAN TOUCH ME!!" first place in the least expensive car contest.

And even though the Micra's fuel economy is nothing to write home about, its overall running cost (purchase price + fuel cost) is still remarkably competitive: that ~$2000 price advantage buys a lot of gas.

It will be very interesting to see how Chevrolet (who sells the formerly cheapest car, the Spark) and Mitsubishi (who sells the very efficient Mirage) will respond to Nissan's bold move.

Note: the MSRP's below don't include discounts. E.G. Mitsubishi has been offering a $500 discount on the Mirage pretty much since it was launched. GM may also offer discounts from time to time.

The Micra will blast the others out of the water is my estimate. $2k cheaper, who wouldn't buy it??? At this end of the car buying market, people are looking for a deal, and that is exactly what they're going to get with the Micra.

The most profound thing to me is that they all look pretty good! Style, substance, price: Pick all three.

I like them all too, but a lot of people say the Mirage is ugly and dated.
