    New member from Québec!

    I'm new here!!

I dont have a Micra yet because I got to get rid of my current vehicule, a 2007 Ford Ranger 4x4.
I'm looking to get one this falls, before winter, a base model without any option!!

Currently, I'm obsessed with it, since at least june when I first saw one on the street...

    MasterFocus, bienvenue!

You might pay for the Micra with the fuel savings compared to your Ford.

Have you test-driven a Micra yet?

Nope, but I'm pretty much sold anyway!
I first saw it in the news papers and since then I'm litterally obsessed with it!! and I'm a Ford guy at heart!!
I really like the idea of a basic car, even though I would also remove power steering! :P

My first Micra didn't have power steering. Wasn't that big of a deal with 12" tires.

In our culture obsessed with absurd excess, the Nissan Micra is my counterculture car of choice.

I had one car with manual brakes! An awesome 1977 AMC Spirit that my aunt gave me.

I agree: it's crazy how much more effort it took.

Power steering delete on the Micra should be super easy: find the electric assist fuse, pull it out.

I did the same thing on my Honda Insight (sold last summer).

Wait, its an electric steering?? There is no shaft going to the rack and pinion?

    Yep, electric assist, not hydraulic.

But it's not "steer by wire" - it's just a "booster" motor on a conventional steering setup.

I'm not sure how it's connected mechanically, whether the 12v motor is on the steering shaft or on the rack.

Admin NOTE: split discussion of power steering into a new thread ... http://micra-forum.com/showthread.ph...ing-(electric)
