I think he's commenting on the supposed shelf life of oil by having used 25 year old product.

I bet Total and Imperial oil know better (“they built it, they know it”).

I agree, everything breaks down, hard to imagine oil maintaining it's integrity for decades. It might feel similar but have a reduced capacity to protect once heat is applied.

Yeah. I just quit driving an '88 Ford Escort in about 2011-12 that was using the same oil. When I retired it it had over 518K miles (834,000 KM) had never been rebuilt and still had compression between 145-155 PSI across all cylinders. It's not just having used 15-25 year old product but am still using it in all my vehicles with no adverse effects. 2 of my current cars are over 200K miles and use about 1/2 quart between 5K mile intervals. Here are some virgin oil analysis of 50+ year old oil. https://www.blackstone-labs.com/wp-c...ils-Part-1.pdf

Im just curious where you purchased your Micra....there appear to be 2 brand new ones left in BC, a few in Ontario, a few in PQ and a number in the Maritimes.(from CarGuru) Prices seem to be considerably higher for them in BC than elsewhere....but what else is new?....
