Requiem for the Micra: "Keep it simple, stupid!" Wheels.ca

I can't think of any other car that had so many positive reviews as the Micra. It seemed to delight Canadian car reviewers.

Sad that now that the car is cancelled (again), we're seeing a few "obituaries" for it, like this one that came out in Wheels.ca...

Opinion: Keep It Simple, St-- You Know the Rest

The bare bones car is getting harder and harder to come by with the demise of the Nissan Micra in Canada.

    Here's a good quote:

It was endearing because it was just so…easy. It was easy on the wallet, easy to climb into and once started, easy to get to know as there were no fancy switches, knobs, or dials to worry about. Twist the key, hit the clutch, turn the fan up if it was cold, and you’re on your way. Then once on your way, it was easy to see out of, easy to thread through traffic and easy to park. It was the perfect car because it fulfilled out most basic needs when it came to the car: a quick, cheap, inoffensive way to get from A to B.
The writer even manages to compare the car to a BMW SUV and the Nissan Leaf. Worth a read.

20k is the new 10k for base models.....

i have a big problem with paying over 9,999!!..lol...maybe i'm not buying new cars anymore. i've never bought a used car in my life. and i'm 50+...paid 11k, 14k 20k for the 91, 99, 2015 hondas (except the 1 owner 97 prelude and i knew the owner=500$)
    2015 Micra S (manual)
    no A/C /no power options/ block heater/4x 2 Ohm speakers...all factory stock in 2015
    Feb 2015 build
    9,999 purchase price + tax..no additional 1600$ because it was a 2015 purchased in 2016
so receipt says $8,399....+1600 .... so they look good i guess...for a brand new car!

It sure seems to be going that way.

Most little CUV's cost $3-5K MORE than the subcompact hatchbacks they're based on - even with the same platform/drivetrain. And companies are cancelling most of those traditional hatchbacks.
