    And 10.5 for the accent.

That's actually really good pricing and great news for consumers... everybody wins!

Thumbs up to Nissan for getting the ball rolling.

It's too bad none of them have the positive global history like the Micra does, otherwise they might be stronger contenders. Then again, Hyundai would probably prefer people forget about the Pony...

In our culture obsessed with absurd excess, the Nissan Micra is my counterculture car of choice.

Well, that shouldn't be a problem. The faster they kick the bucket, the faster you forget, right?

Ive seen the 10.5 for the accent in newspaper adds. Its basically a sale price on their 5mt base model. Usually on the "current" year models just before the next year's model comes out in october.

For the Micra, the sub 10k price tag seems to be all year long all the time.. That alone might be an attractant.. Now if only dealers can start keeping them in stock....

It's in the link you posted Darin. $10,495 and same ''all in'' offer as the Elantra.

Wow... I completely missed that. I must have been so OMG GONNA GET A 12K ELANTRA! I was blind to everything else.

    Kidding! Not getting one.

Seems Nissan and Mitsu dealerships may have been slapped on the wrist for violating some advertising regulations as far as "9998" pricing goes. Someone apparently familiar with the dealership scene says:

These 9998 ones [...] in ontario, they aren't even allowed to advertise that price from dealers... OMVIC even sent a very specific letter out specifying that "some brands have strategically priced cars to come in under 10k, if that does not include mandatory fees, than that price CANNOT be advertised"
    Source, autos.ca forum: http://www.autos.ca/forum/index.php/topic,88806.0.html?

FYI, OMVIC is the regulator of vehicle sales in the province (consumer protection): http://www.omvic.on.ca/portal/
