    here is by guess:

Clogged Catalytic Converter– If you are getting P0101 in your Versa accompanied by a noticeable lack in power at speed, it may very well be that you have a clogged catalytic converter
    2015 Micra S (manual)
    no A/C /no power options/ block heater/4x 2 Ohm speakers...all factory stock in 2015
    Feb 2015 build
    9,999 purchase price + tax..no additional 1600$ because it was a 2015 purchased in 2016
so receipt says $8,399....+1600 .... so they look good i guess...for a brand new car!

I got the cat furthest from the engine checked and it looks fine according to the mechanic.Took it to Nissan and they couldn't figure it out. Going to try another mechanic tomorrow and suggest the cats again.

the ecm update would only work if there were no driveability issues (IF there was one)
    the cat has collapsed internally....awesome!

But he said mechanic took cat out and checked and it was ok. If everything p0101 related was checked and everything was good then the only thing left for me would be ecm update may be they fixed something in software. Nissan doesnt bother to share changelog in their new versions they say only “logic improvement”.

Even if cat came apart and clogged other sections of the exh system partially still mechanic must identify that the cat cells are missing or damaged.

if the cat fell apart totally it should give a "below eficiency error"....what is the long term fuel trim like?..you should be able to see that with a code reader AND the freeze frame data when it throws the code.

i guess Gary is still driving slowly down the freeway towards this forum!

Sorry for late reply. Decided to put in a new catalytic converter (found one on ebay for $130.00+shipping) and its running like new again! I hope to get another 2-3 years out of this car.

    Thanks for your help everyone.

thats good news but odd, if the cat got "plugged" i would that thought it would have given a "below efficiency" error, if the cat disintegrated i thought it would have thrown a "below efficiency error"...what did the old one look like ?? did it LOOK plugged?
