Have you guys checked to see how these screens are holding up over time?

What would be the pros/cons of the mesh compared to a screen like this: http://www.dahlcanvas.com/Bugscren.jpg?
    Would this effect fuel economy?

    Mine's holding up fine.

In our culture obsessed with absurd excess, the Nissan Micra is my counterculture car of choice.

That finer style of screen looks like it would block more airflow from entering the engine compartment than what Paul used, which would increase fuel economy (very) slightly.

Would it cause any heat issues given the restricted airflow? Sorry if its a silly question - I'm not too mechanically inclined.

Very unlikely. The Micra's grille openings are huge for the power output of the engine.

If I had one, I'd be completely blocking much of the grille much more than that screen would ... but I also have a digital OBD-II gauge to monitor coolant temps.

My grill is holding up great. No rust on it...something I was worried about because even though it is galvanized, it is pretty cheap material.

No dents either, so it hasn't saved me from any road comets yet.

The rad protection is something everyone should look into, but I know, as a mod it is kinda low on the sexy scale.

Don't know why I have not done this sooner. Picked up this stuff today clicky. Will be spraying it blaaaack to make it stand out a little less and there's enough to also do the girlfriends new Versa too.

Finally got this installed, found it a bit tricky to get the upper grille out of the opening once you free it, but it was handy being able to use all the points for screws that are mysteriously there.
