I test drove a 3.6 Outback a few years ago & the saleman
Warned it was not great on gas. I believe 2019 is the last year
    To get one.
I had a 2003 Forester, the motors of that generation are renowned for blowing head gaskets at 200000km. By the time I sold mine with 350 000km on it , It needed 3500$ worth of parts. Had many issues but oil usage was not one of them. Thats why I am upset that my new car use so much oil.

    Further to my posting....

I followed the break in rules exactly. My past experience showed it works except for this car. My 1990 Mitsu Mirage (Dodge label) never burned a drop of oil in the 6 years and 100,000 Kms. Next came a forgetable POS called a Plymouth Sundance. There was so much wrong with this car that oil consumption was the least of my concern.

Then came a 2000 Hyundai Accent. Just like the Mitsu. Good break in . Never used a drop of oil. Then there was a 2nd hand 2005 hyundai Accent with 12,000 Km on the clock. I don't know if there was any break in period from the previous owner but oil consumption was very slight.

I don't know where the oil is going. No drips under the car.... and no blue smoke..... no fuzzy slush in the radiator fluid.

I'm starting to see about a litre every 2K, (threw in some restore just in case) had zero loss prior to 130K, need to do a full check but at least it's not leaking on to the ground any more lol

2015 Micra SV with 77k now
    Used synthetic since 43k.
A little bit of usage when it is at 5k. Nothing much to speak about. Oil changs are so vital and a top quality of oil. Unfortunate to read about your issue.

That is not normal. My 2015 also has 45K on it and burns no oil. As to what the dealer is telling you, i dealt with Honda dealers all my life and never had major issues. Nissan on the other hand i have found to be dishonest and just one big money grab. They outright lied to me about work they claimed was needed urgently, i took the car to two shops (one specialist) and they both found no issue. As to parts cost, one little end link ... $96 plus tax ... crazy.

Nissan finally decided to replace my motor... My micra is now using more than 1/2 a litre of oil every 1000km. Thats 4+ litres of oil between service. My car only has 55 000km.
The new engine should be getting here in a week or so.
