    Another winter tire thread....

    and because I'm Canadian...sorry!

I searched and looked at multiple tire threads and have not seen this question answered.

I've never has winters before...on the truck I just got winter grade tires for the whole year.

I'm thinking another set of steals to make easy switches.

What I'm wondering is if it's worth buying 16 inch winters when the summers are 15 inchers? Is there any advantage? Will it affect the car by switching back and forth from 15's to 16's each season?

Also - any recommendations for mostly a slushy road condition with maybe a few weeks of snow covered driving.

    Thanks in advance....

Assuming that you are planning to keep the outer diameter (and therefore the rolling circumference) the same, I would keep with the 15" rims. More sidewall will give more protection against wheel damage when you hit the inevitable potholes with the higher profile tires.
I would also consider the cost and availability of wheels and tires of the different diameter and profile and go with the least expensive.

    9,999 purchase price + tax..no additional 1600$ because it was a 2015 purchased in 2016
so receipt says $8,399....+1600 .... so they look good i guess...for a brand new car!

Grab a set of 185/65/15s. Should be able to find 4 name brand tires for $200.

Steel rims are cheaper in a 15. Tires are much cheaper in a 15.

    Don't go 16.

if price is the main, main consideration i would agree with nickols, if a compromise of handling, looks and not changing tires is the main goal, i think my advice is fairly sound, but i agree 16 is an odd size, i picked it because i already had 16"s

I was lucky and able to find Michelin X-Ice Xi3's on factory 15s on Kijiji locally. Performance in those mostly wet urban winters is much better than the all-seasons they gave me.
