I just did a run from Mission to Merritt BC (2016 SV with Auto Trans) via the infamous "highway thru hell" & after 222 kms the car calculated 5.2 L/100 kms. After fueling up in Merritt I used 12.78 Liters which I calculate @ 5.75 L/100 kms.
I should point out I used HWY 7 to Agassiz & then over to HWY1 & then the Coquihalla. I set the cruise @ 105 kms/hr (GPS read 100) as there was little mid week traffic and kept the speed no less than 90 on the big hills with the AC off.
On the way home I stayed on the freeway the whole way (250 kms) used the AC & still got an indicated 5.2 L/100kms. Usually I do better on the way home because of the long downhill sections back to the Coast, where the indicated usage is 0.00 L/100 kms with the wheels driving the engine, NOT Neutral.
I heard a story years ago in school about 2 guys in an Army jeep trying to go as fast as possible down a big hill
by putting the standard transmission in Neutral. The teacher called it "Mexican Overdrive".
Sounds like they hit a very high speed until somehow the transmission
accidentally popped/got bumped back into gear causing the flywheel to sheer off & fly through through the trans tunnel taking off the drivers leg!

I was able to get the avg display to go down to 5.2l/100km on my way to and from CTMP from Toronto about 250km. I have a automatic and was on cruise control around 110km/h for most the trip

Funny - but maybe an urban myth??

I just read a story about driving a crappy old Jeep on a road trip. The owner was very concerned about the ability of his brakes to handle a long, steep mountain descent -- he was about to drive the La Veta Pass through the Rockies (U.S.).

He need not have worried, because old Jeeps are so light and un-aerodynamic ...

I was worried that the downhill sections of the grades would be more challenging on my Postal Jeep due to its weak non-power drum brakes, I actually had to apply throttle to maintain 45 mph!

I'm in Twisp Washington which most of you have never heard of. Just filled up...and it's in my mileage log....5.7. Except for driving into Spokane and two short city trips while there....this was entirely highway driving.

It's possible to get similar fuel economy out in the flat prairies with no headwinds or if the wind is on your back while on cruise, we typically average between 5.5 to 6.5 litres per 100 km between Edmonton & Regina or Winnipeg; sometimes the trip computer says 4.5 going down shallow valleys and 7 to 8+ climbing up the other side.
    Nice!

Back to the city and not-so-great mileage again.

Don't worry about a tank or two. You are averaging 6.3 l/100km (44.9 mpg) and that is impressive

That is quite a price difference when quoted as price per litre, but in reality you saved only $3.20, less than a medium mocha latte at Tim Horton's.
I noticed that you tend to stop fueling at an even number of litres; that is OK, but your fuel economy data may not be accurate when only one fill-up is considered. For example, if you had put in an extra 1/2 litre (about the amount in that Timmy's latte) your fuel economy would change from 7.9 to 8.1 l/100km.
If you try to fill the tank to the same level each time (until it "clicks" off for example) and post every fill-up you will have accurate data when viewed overall.
Only 5 members have used the Fuel Economy Log in 2019. You have the best results.
