    Back Drum Brakes- Seized

Hey everyone, now that its spring we decided to investigate the host of complaints I made over the winter to my dad.

this one is actually a major safety issue.

The self adjusting ratchet in the rear drum brakes was completely seized on both sides of the car. Meaning I spent most of the winter with only front working breaks because when this part is seized the brake pads were NOT being pushed into the drum. We solved and fixed the issue today in the nice weather, but it explains my long drawn out stopping and inability to stop quickly. I only had 2/4 brakes working.

I would absolutely check yours out to see if yours are seizing up and filling with crud and sticking as it stops the drum brakes from working at all. We also made a video for this issue which he will be posting and I will be linking too.

Has anyone else run into this issue?
