I'm not saying buy Walmart's battery or Canadian Tires batteries. I'm just trying to give an example

    UPDATE...

I finally installed a new 121r battery as the original one was sulfating bad and I got to say it is a tight fit. I had to stretch the positive cable over and on top post and to push the air tube in to be bolted on. The 96R was shorter but wider, and you would only be losing $10 and 10 CCA VS the 121R.

If you think a group 35 would fit, well it doesn't as it it too high.

But If I had to do it again which I will, I'm going for the 96R

To be specific the Energizer 96R AGM Battery
Item 1318596 https://tires.costco.ca/Batteries/Pr...ItemNo=1318596 which can only be bought online for some reason.

I replaced mine with an Interstate MT-121r. You can get them at Interstate Battery Centers or even at Mr Lube. I feel it’s made a big difference and never had any start issues.

It’s hard to find batteries for the Micra since most of the car finder databases are from the USA.

I’m making a battery thread soon.

121R seems to be the “listed oem replacement” now instead of the incorrect 51R thats meant for the versa cvt.

121R group size lists 215mm for height - but the ones listed on Canadian tire site are actually 206mm tall.
I feel like that’s why some can be “to tall” like the 35 or 25 which is listed as 225mm height or 210- 222mm

Seems the optimal height is between 175mm - 206mm
Seems the optimal length is between 210mm - 230mm (although a group 47 was fitted which is 243mm)
Seems the optimal width is between 171mm - 177mm (the battery lock plate makes width the important factor, 175-177 is best )

    The 99R from Napa is L210x175x175 ( only 450cca oem is 470 )

The 121R from ct is L210xW176xH206

The 47R (AGM) from ct is L243xW171xH197 ( little long and little skinny )

    The 85 ( non-agm ) from ct L229xW175xH206 ( sweet spot and 650cca and only $161 )

The 35/85 AGM from ct. Same dimension as group47 (600cca) but with 640cca

The 121R seems like a perfectly fine replacement. (550cca) $151
If you need more cold cranking amps group 85 ( 650cca) $160 (19mm or 3/4” longer then 121R(8.25”))
    If you want AGM group 47 or 35/85 (600-640cca)$240 (33mm or 1 1/3” longer then 121R)

How does the Kirkland 121r fit? On Costco's website they list it as 215mm tall. For $99 its a great price.

My battery just died, it' been fairly cold here in Quebec this week and with working from home I haven't been driving as much. I will call Nissan tomorrow to see which battery size/type they recommend but I suspect they'll be on the pricy side. When I check on Canadian Tire website, for the micra, they show no result at all. Same thing when I check the CAA website for an estimate if they come replace it for me at home. I also once checked at Costco in the manual for their battery and the micra was not there. They sure are not making it easy on us..!

Anyone changed their battery recently? Where did you get it and which type did you end up buying?

    Any recommendation appreciated!

I saw that thread too but you did not mention which one you decided to go with. There are many options as I can see but it's a little confusing.

Well that’s because I like to provide information and let people decide what course of action is best for them.

In this case, it has been determined that the most suitable replacement is 96R or 121R **(but pay attention to the height.)

If you are ever really unsure go to a trusted mechanic or Nissan.

All the infos are very appreciated of course.

I called Nissan and they said the battery they recommend is 35F550, which I assume is a group 35. They said it's the same as in Rogues and Kicks which sounds weird to me, I'd expect same as Versa or something.

Just funny how apparently there's so many different types that'd fit hut in this extreme cold I might just call CAA or go to the dealership instead of changing it myself.

    “ If you want AGM group 47 or 35/85 (600-640cca)$240 (33mm or 1 1/3” longer then 121R)”

Group 99R is the size (210x175x175) closest to stock but only 450cca
    Group 121R is a 550cca that’s an inch taller (210x176x206-215)
    Group 35R is a 550cca that’s even bigger (243 x 175 x 225 mm) 1-1/3” longer & 2” taller then stock
