Report: Nissan cancelling the Versa Note this year

Another small car bites the dust?

A report from CarsDirect says an order guide for the 2019 Versa Note indicates the car will cease being available this year.

the automaker's 2019 order guide indicates model production will end this April. This is typically the sign that a model has been discontinued.
Sales have been falling in both Canada and the U.S.

    U.S. stats:

the company says it sold a total of 75,809 of both [Versa sedan and Versa Note hatchback] in 2018, a 29% decline from the same period in 2017. For comparison, there were well over 42,000 sales of the Rogue and Rogue Sport just in December of last year.
They say the Versa sedan will remain available for "another model year or two".

Watching this is key for the future of the Canadian K13 Micra, since all 3 cars are made in the same Mexican factory.

Does this article apply to Canada or just the USA. Versa sedans are not available in Canada

The article is about the hatchback Note. It says the sedan will continue for another year or 2.

It doesn't say anything about Canada specifically though.

Hmm.. I wonder if it's related to the Note e-Power? Wasn't it confirmed last year it was coming to North America? Or were those just rumours?

Too bad the Kicks has such a stupid name.. Given that it's almost brand new and has all the trendy base tech/safety features and only comes with one powertrain config, it would make sense to throw e-Power in that for a North American release.

EDIT: It looks like India is getting a Kicks e-Power for 2020. Maybe Canada next?

U.S. Note cancellation confirmed by Nissan:

In its place, the U.S. will get the next-gen Versa sedan based on the k14 Micra platform:

Yeah, they announced Note e-power was coming to the U.S. last year. Change of plans, I guess.

This isn't surprising since that a lot of cars follow what goes into America.
