Sure thing :P I've got enough left over material to make 1 more pair anyway - but I do want to do quite a bit of testing on them, I have 1/4" x 1/2" bar that can be added as a reinforcing rib if it sees any deflection. The computer stress test said it should be fine but that's perfect world lol.
Welding of the cat is complete, just need to notch the slip joint so the clamp can really squeeze on there.
Used damp paper towel to protect the core, they only started to smolder by the very end, the dry ones/ those with acetone on them on the work bench weren't so lucky lol
tacked in, mind the gap
Due to heat issues (**** gas), had to stack tacks. I tried to do tig style laywire... while using the mig... it sort of worked but not easily enough to be reliable (was using 3/32, if I had thinner stuff it would've been easier)
smaller end - same deal
1/32 gap between flange and outer tube, 1 root and 3 caps later
What the bigger side ended up looking like after 2 more rows of tacks (one above the joint, then one at 90 to the body, directly on the cats lip)
Used vertical stitches on the short side, it seemed to hold up better to the heat.
