    Air Filter upgrade

Hey everyone! I have a 2017 Nissan Micra K13, with the HR12DE engine.

I'm looking to upgrade my air filter (since it's one of the only things I can do legally to my car).

I've looked at K&N and AEM filters - now I've seen that the AEM Filter is easier to maintain, as it does not require oil.
Which one is better for the Micra with the HR12DE engine? K&N or AEM? Are there maybe others worth looking into? Is K&N worth the extra oiling process? I'm not much of a wrench, so I would prefer it to be as simple as it gets.

    Thanks in advance!

Hi Raziel346... welcome to the forum!

No replies to your query yet, probably because we only get the hr16de engine here in Canada. No 3-cylinder Micras to be seen!

That said, it sounds like you may have answered your own question... the AEM filter sounds like the best option for low-maintenance.

If you do a search of members' cars, you'll find that most people have gone with K&N.

https://micra-forum.com/dto_garage_s...hp?do=advanced -- do a search on "filter" in the "Under the hood" field.

That may just be because it's the most well-known brand.

Let us know what you decide to do!
