Angry Exhaust pipe flange rusted off.

    Hey everyone,

My 2015 Micra SR had its exhaust system failure. Looks like the bolts holding the flange to the remaining exhaust have rusted to nothing. The rest of the exhaust is galvanized, but not the flange nor the bolts.

Dealership says I have to pay for that because it is out of warranty mileage-wise (~96k km).
I have extended coverage that ought to cover that, but I think this is a serious design flaw where a part like that fails in under 3 years, and Nissan should cover this.

What do you think? Have you had same issue? The flange itself is just in front of the rear passenger wheel.

OT: I LOVE the new sound!

Less than a week ago I had mine fixed too. Pipe from muffler separated from its flange. Same place as yours. Out of warranty. I never liked the sound. Not to mention lost power

When I put my exhaust on I could see through the lower half of the flange in various spots, it's just stamped steel so it's certainly work looking at. I cleaned the hell out of it and took some high-heat epoxy putty to fill the void, seems to be holding up.

So how is everyone getting fixed? With muffler paste?

weld it....its obvious the robot was overworked when he/she did it at factory.....i have a welder so Ill do it....ANY muffler shop should be able to but they will offer NO warranty(but i would be ok with that)

AMAZOD...id have expected a little better out of you...do you not have a welder ?

For me I just cut both ends of the flange off and put a small piece of straight pipe in the middle with muffler clamps on either side. I think some other people have done the same. That was about 4 years ago, which means as of now its lasted about twice as long as the factory flange did.
