DIY: Blower Motor Resistor replacement (with pics)

[ Admin note: see Speg's DIY instructions & photos for replacing the resistor, starting at post #10 in this thread. ]

    Hey,

Looking for some help, I have a friend with a 2015 Micra with a bad resistor. I can not find anything on the web with the Canadian Micra! Where is the general location of the resistor on these cars?
    Thanks!

Not sure. I haven't heard of anyone having this problem.

If you don't get a reply here, have you tried on the Versa forum? I'm sure it'll be the same component and probably also the same location.

Usually they are behind the glove box, held in by two screws.
About a 15 min job taking your time.

I never changed it in my Micra yet but on my 2001 Z24 and 2010 Escape they burnt out every 3 months.

Just had mine go as well, they are usually attached to the side of the blower motor behind the glove box. Haven't pulled mine yet, does anyone have the part #?

Please keep us updated if you do your own repair. A few DIY instructions/pics would help other owners in the future.

There is some indication it should bolt on the exterior heater housing on the driver side.?

ok so i dont want to wear out my blower motor resistor so i will use the fan on MAX only, but then i am going to wear out the switch(have to switch through 1,2,3 to get to max) , so i am only going to use the fan on 2, never 1. then if the switch wears out 2 i can use 3 and then 1 because i wont have used those switch detent positions. i will always have emergency 4 because it doesn't use the blower resistor and i wont have used that switch detent position .

    So to recap:
use 2 or 3, use 4 for emergencies only, 1 would produce the most heat in the blower resistor, so avoid it.

or just enjoy life and stop worrying.....

Finally replaced the resistor today and it is in fact located on the drivers side above the gas pedal, 10 minute fix but mainly due to the location, definitely puts your flexibility to the test. Use a stubby Phillips screw driver and make sure not to drop the screws. Works like a charm now. (pics in two separate posts.....sorry)
