Getting the front brake discs out...

Yesterday I wanted to swap the discs and the pads, as Nissan recommended replacing them... They wanted $220 for the discs - I got rust-proofed ones here in town for just over $80.

I took off tires, braking assembly, hub axle bolt (30 mm BTW), and was unable to remove the disc itself... I checked 3 times - there were no bolts that I could see holding it on the hub. Am I missing something here? And all the videos I could see were European spec, and those do have a retaining bolt with an Allen-type head.

I literally broke a mallet trying to bang the damn thing off . Ended up just replacing the brake pads as mine were worn out completely (2 years 2 months, 74,000 km).

Any help is appreciated. Will be trying again in the next year, and sooner than later.

I checked the link, and it is useful, but the brake disc removal is not covered in any detail. It just says "remove the brake discs". Also, the braking assembly is not the same.

why don't you just bring it to a street shop, and see how they take the rotor off, and learn it off?

I have some funny feeling you either forget to loose some screw / bolt or basically your rotor is rusty as F that you need to spray some penetrate around those fitting spot, give some heat, and then give it a knock

thats odd, you shouldnrt need to take the hub nut off...the rotor should just come off ?

The rotor is only secured by the lug nuts, once the wheel and caliper are off, the rotor can be removed -> sounds like your rotor and hub have rusted together (remember your anti-seize on the hub face and centreing ring). Penetrating oil from the face, around each stud and the ring + behind the hub where you can reach. Worst case scenario the hub comes off and goes in the oven lol
