Hey everybody! Your "Micra SUV" is here!

    Notable, according to Wiki:

    • It replaces the Juke
    • It's made on the same "V" platform as the Micra, Versa sedan & Note
    • It's made in the same factory as the Canadian Micra (Aguascalientes, Mexico)
    • It comes with a 1.6L HR16DE in Brazil (Canadian press info only says "1.6L")
    • The engine is rated at 125 horsepower and 115 lb-ft of torque.
    • It comes in FWD only, just like the cars on which it's based.
    • It comes with a CVT only, no manual.

Nissan will be hoping people will buy this instead of the Micra on which it's based, just as people are buying the Honda HRV (instead of the Fit on which it's based), the Buick/Chevrolet Trax (instead of the Sonic on which it's based), etc. etc. etc.

    Crossovers! Crossovers! Crossovers!

The engine bump in power is very impressive! It will be great to dig up some more info on this engine and see how it compares with the current HR16DE, and see what parts we can use on ours!

As for the CUV thing... just shoot me now. Also, big big booo for no manual trans!

You never know! But it's just a matter of time before wrecked Kicks start showing up in junkyards.

I think it will be available mid-2018.

Yea... will see.... basically the reason why i want the seat so much is it look much more supportive, it's electric, and it's heated LOL. Problem is I need to pull some wire, and hopfully the current micra have a slot somewhere for that. LMAO

Juke owners are surely rolling their eyes about this replacement.

    Eh, Pete?

So far the blogs I've read have been fairly negative about it (less power, much more conservative styling, no manual trans).

But yes, the engine differences might be interesting for Micra owners.

Now I wonder can I just pull the whole set of the "kick" chair, and install them into a Micra.

And now I can see why the K14 Micra will not come to Canada too.

I'm really excited for the Kicks and may get one once the lease is up on my Micra next October. I just think they should have added more power though, I mean only 125hp from a N/A 1.6? It may be adequate for city driving but on the highway I don't know how it will perform. Might be Mitsubishi Mirage levels of slow, lol. They should have used the 1.8L MR18DE from the Sentra which has a little bit more torque, or the 140HP 2.0L from the Qashqai. So I guess the Kicks will replace the Micra in Canada's lineup as well? Like are we getting any 2018 Micras? Either K13 or K14?

Also I really think they should have put in the 5 speed or 6 speed manual in the Kicks for all trim levels like the Micra, if it's going to be a suitable replacement. This is Nissan's fun SUV, I mean come on!

There's nothing yet for 2018 on Nissan's web site. But they're running the Micra Cup for 3 more years, so I expect they're still selling the car that long. (Current version)

    Wiki says...

    Brazilian: 1,109 kg-1,136 kg (2.444 lb-2504 lb)
    Chinese: 1,122 kg-1,164 kg (2.473 lb-2566 lb)
Ours will probably weigh a little more than these models (probably will come with more airbags and crash structure).

    UPDATE July 11: Nissan Canada says Kicks S = 1,197 kg (2639 lbs), SV = 1,204 (2654)

Considering the heaviest Micra is 2407 lbs / 1092 kg, the power:weight ratio of the Kicks may actually be a little better:

-- Kicks has 15% more power than SR Micra automatic
-- Kicks SV weighs 10% more than SR Micra auto.

But it comes with the rubber band transmission only, so it will feel slower and the engine drone will drive you nuts when you step on it.
