im running 17's, with a 215/45 tire. I had to lower the air pressure to 35psi from the max 44. Ride was really bumpy. Since lowering the air pressure right is almost what it was with OEM tires and rims. hoping to lower it a bit as well in the spring when the winters come off.

Im Running 17s also with a 215/45/17 which is the proper sized tire to match oem specs. I dont see why you would want 44psi. i use the factory setting thats specified by the Tire Placard inside the driver door. Name: 20914412_10203430651004448_2795055435169339650_n.jpg

Size: 14.2 KB. Theres a good veriety of springs you can buy to lower it! If you buy Coilovers make sure they have sway bar support! Canadian Micras are the only ones that come with front sway bars! last thing you want is to lower your car and make it more of a boat then it already is LMAO!

The suggested tire pressure is for one specific size only. If you use any other size you should adjust the pressure so the load rating is the same. For example, on my Nissan Cube I changed from 195/60R15 to 195/65R15. I emailed Michelin and they suggested that I reduce the recommended pressure from 33psi to 29psi.
You should never inflate to the "Maximum" on the sidewall; that number reflects "Maximum" and not "Optimal"

"optimal" for what....comfort or not losing that 2 MPH in the corner you can ill afford in a micra?..lol

i agree..the door placard is only good for the stock tire size...adjustments must be made!!!

from 160 to 165 profile i would have recommended 35 PSI...but who really knows!...maybe not even michelin. ...smiley face....

When running low profile tires, you're going to more often than not want to run near or at the max for the tire - while lower is fine, to a limit, the tire is a shock absorber. If you run a LP tire for comfort and hit a pot hole say goodbye to your rim. Rim width and relation to the tire are also factors in the math. If you put a 195/60+ on a 5" wide rim you can run it down at 25 and be fine, it'll be spongy and the face will deform how ever is needed to match the road (since the sidewalls are cupped constantly they only go from a little cupped to a little more cupped), and likely give you better dry breaking characteristics.
If you're running the same 195 on a 7.5" rim (vertical side walls), and run the same 25, your side walls will be cracking in no time as they are what will be deforming as you roll while the surface stays flat regardless of condition. Likewise, if you have a slight stretch to the tire it's advisable to increase the pressure -> when I was running 205's on an 8.5" rim my pressures were above tire spec as it was the bead itself doing the flexing.

The reason everywhere, since even, fills to the tire rated max, is because they leak pressure over time. If you aren't checking pressures weekly, you can ill afford to run at the optimum pressure since you'll be running under that in a few days, and a busy few weeks later + a cold night running out to the store when you hit that one pot hole the city won't fix, you're sub 20psi.

I had 17's for two years 205/40/17. You get more grip but ride quality is so bad in my opinion. Stay with the factory size, it really works better.

i agree with Azmodon about low profile and low pressure= bent rim...i run pretty high and still have bent rims. but tires dont get pinched and destroyed.

    I have 17" wheels too.

I put 215/40R17 because this size is the best size to close to factory 16" tire size.
Ride quality is fine and I put lowering springs too.

Little bit harder than OEM 16" tires but I am not complaining at all.

My offset is 17x7.5 +40 as well.

Curious what offset(s) people are running on their 17” wheels.
Everyone seems to forget to post their wheel offset... It makes a huge difference to what fits right and what doesn't.
I’m looking at 17x8 +40 wheels and a 205/45/17 tire... would this combo clear without rubbing the fender or inner wheel well?
I’m looking for flush fit and not interested in any poke if I can avoid it.
willtheyfit.com says it’ll work but I’d like some real world opinions before I drop the $$$ on something I won’t be able to live with.
    Thanks in advance.
