Insurance: is it me, or is the micra insurance just high as heck ?

now a bit of background: i got my driver license pretty late in my life, compared to most people.....on the bright side, that meant i didnt get into any silly accidents as a teen/young adult.

so now, i've had my license for a full 5 years, and then some. zero accidents at all. i live in the lower mainland, BC, so it is an urban area, which means higher density.

and yes, i pay for full coverage + roadside (but minus any replacement cost/depreciation options). deductible $300 for both collision and comp.

and i pay ~$2300 per year for this priviledge.

i just wanna know if im being silly thinking this is too much money?
is it me? or is it the car?

i mean, this is a pretty basic, cheap (albeit still modern) car. i woulda hoped it would be lower premiums....

I'm in Ontario, 66 yrs old, and I have no fault insurance, 2 million coverage, 500 deductible, annual fee $653 on the Micra. You sir are being ripped off! Your $2300 fee in my case covers my house and 2 cars.

I lived out of the country for about 12 years, then didn't own a car for another 11 or so so I hadn't been an insured driver in Ontario for 20+ years. I have had my license without any accident or tickets for 37 years. When I got my Micra, and only after I got a broker to search records to show I was insured in Ontario for two years did I get a rate of 2300 bucks. It went down this year about 100 bucks. My understanding is it will continue to drop each year I go without accidents tickets. BTW I joined CARP to see if I could get a over 50 discount... No ****, they quoted me 11,000 dollars...Hehe cancelled my membership. bellaire direct quoted 4400 bucks.
So you are not alone, I will be a bit more aggressively looking for insurance next year, but am guessing it will only save me another couple of hundred bucks at best.
