    July sales

Micra hit one out of the park: 600 sales.

That's up 65% vs. the 363 Micras sold last July.

It was Nissan's only car model to notch an increase in sales vs. July of last year. (Not counting the GTR, which sells in tiny numbers.)

Overall, Nissan group recorded a sales decline of 13%

    August sales

August was a better month too, looking year-over-year. Nissan even saw fit to mention the Micra in its "highlights" for the month:

The Nissan Micra sub compact sales totaled 548 units in August, up 46.1 per cent from 2018.

    Also a good increase:

Micra compact car sales rose 38.6 per cent to 510 units.

    Spark takes the lead

Last quarter, something interesting (shocking?) happened: the Spark overtook the Micra as the best-selling "city car". That's the first time it's happened since the Micra arrived in 2014 to dominate the segment. The Mirage is getting clobbered, as usual:

    YTD sales, Jan-Sept:

    5333 - Spark
    4933 - Micra
    1904 - Mirage

    October sales

Micra was the best-selling car in Nissan's car lineup last month, and the only model to NOT see a decrease in sales vs. October last year.

    576 delivered.

Yet they're cancelling the Micra. Brilliant!!

    November sales up

Micra sales were up last month vs. November 2017:

    442 cars sold.

Ha - when I see "442" in the context of cars, this is what pops into my mind:

    Name: 442.jpg
Views: 652
Size: 29.9 KB

Anyway, sales were up 36% from 324 Micras sold in 2018.

In fact, 2019 has already surpassed 2018's total annual sales.

Yet they're cancelling the Micra. Smart !!

    December & year end sales

Micra ended the year with 410 sales in December, for an annual total of 6361.

Both figures are up from the previous year.

Here's a look back at how the Micra has done since launch:

    2019 ... 6361
    2018 ... 5372
    2017 ... 8812
    2016 ... 9896
    2015 ... 11909
    2014 ... 7815 (Apr - Dec, not a full year)

    ---

Overall, Nissan Canada didn't have the best 2019. Sales were down almost 10% vs. 2018, and sales of cars in partiular (vs. trucks) absolutely tanked, down 35% year over year.

Vehicle sales in Canada hit a high a couple of years ago, but they're not down quite as much as Nissan's figures. Wonder what's going on?

Nissan in general isn't doing too well, AFAIK. For whatever reasons, people are seeing it as more of a budget brand, and steering clear.

According to what I'm seeing Nissan is claiming its due to a reduction in rental fleet sales and global sales plateau's
Others sources are stating aging model lineups and slowing global car market.

They'll come back around, unfortunately without the Micra though. Most of their car lineup is getting an overhaul very soon including the 370Z and GTR. Haven't seen anything in the works for the Frontier and Titan yet, and there well past their life cycle. Should be something for them in the works very soon too.
