    9,998 Micras sold

The company put out a press release touting they've surpassed 9,998 sales of the "$9,998" car.

Which of course we already knew from following monthly sales numbers.

But there were some other interesting sales tidbits in the release:

    • In the fourth quarter of 2014, Nissan grabbed the lead of the subcompact segment with an average market share of 20 per cent with sales of Versa Note and Micra combined.
    • in 2015, Micra has an average 14 per cent market share in the segment

Not me, unfortunately! Then again, there's no Nissan dealer in my little city.

April Micras - 1 year of sales

    April was really good:

The Nissan Micra subcompact celebrates its first full year in market with 1,240 units sold in April. This marks its second best month since its launch in April 2014.

I updated the sales tallies table in post #1.

Man, what's GM doing with the Spark? 45 sold in April - that's the polar opposite of Micra: the second worst month ever for them!

Actually, there's a new Spark coming next year. Still not going to be a Micra competitor unless they decide to compete on the base price though.

Spark is probably the best competition for the Micra SV...The LT1 trim has basically the same things and a few more on top...however, they don't want to sell them...they do on fleet levels, which offsets their MPG need...they rather move you to a cruze or sonic for a few bucks more...
The SPARK LT1 Trim was within a couple hundred dollars out the door at every dealer i priced it at...they have no problem dropping the price 500 for this and 500 for that...drive in a pontiac or saturn and get a 1000 off...oh you worked a deal on your micra price, if you really want a spark i'll give you this off to get closer to the same price...no problem...
however, if you want to test drive one, especially a 5 spd, that is going to require some hunting an travel...the GM website at the time i was looking showed closest 5 spd was 95km from my house...
the auto were closer, however, most only got one a month on the lot and they were usually sold quickly...
I never did get a test drive in one so i bought the Micra...Happy overall, but still would have like to compare the drive.

I've never tried a Spark either. They intrigue me just because they're SO small -- must be the smallest 4 door car on the market.

There was one parked on a local used car lot I was tempted to take for a spin out of curiosity. It was an automatic though, so I didn't bother.

you know how reviewers note how shaky micra can be in cross winds?

apparently micra is a beast compared to how fragile the spark feels.

honestly, i dont know if i ever want to test drive something so....small. same reason why im afraid of getting in a smart car!
