    September sales

^ Based on the trend of car sales vs. crossovers/CUV/SUV's, I think our chance of seeing the new Micra in Canada is dwindling fast.

368 Micras found homes last month, down -60% vs. last Sept. That means 3 of the 4 slowest months for Micra sales have happened this year.

Overall Nissan sales were down -2.3%

Once again, the LEAF outsold the Micra/Versa Note. (Probably due to people rushing to get one before Ontario's rebate was cancelled.)

Shockingly, sales of the Chevy Spark have increased each year since it was redesigned for 2016, and GM priced it to compete directly against the Micra with a $10k base trim. It may overtake the Micra as the best-selling "city car" if the trend holds for the rest of this year. It's going to be very close.

I would agree with you MetroMPG. Unless we have a major spike in fuel cost or a recession - that may boost sales. I have been in a dealer when looking for an automatic and all the dealers had were the $9,999.00 stripper version. No wonder no sales. No SV's at all.
Reminds me of Yamaha and the Road Star 1700. Oh yeah they were selling them but nothing at any dealership. The bike was discontinued...no kidding.

That's funny - there are never any base models at my local Nissan. Just SV's.

Funny thing is, Canadian gas prices were close to all time highs this spring (and they're not much below that point now). Didn't seem to help sales. Although pickup & SUV sales are still hitting records.

Maybe because it wasn't a "spike". The frog in the pot of water gets used to the temperature being turned up gradually!

    October sales

Yet another record month for the company:

Nissan Group announced a best October ever with total Canadian sales of 12,198 units for October 2018, an increase of 5.4 per cent year-over-year. Nissan Division also achieved a record October with sales of 11,296 units, up 7.7 per cent from 2017.
    It's about the CUV's & crossovers, though.

The Micra is still struggling vs. previous years: 410 sold (last October was 730).

I just can't believe the Chevy Spark sells that well. They must be giving one away with each pickup sold. And the Ford Fiesta is such a poorly engineered car I am glad Ford is getting out of the car business even though the focus chassis lives on as a mini cuv. Again they must come in the box of each pickup sold. LOL LOL LOL

Either that or they're delivering a lot to rental fleets (they don't distinguish commercial sales vs. sales to individuals).

But truth is, I see more than a few new (2017+) Sparks around here. Almost as many as Micras.

November sales - good news, bad news

    The good news:

Nissan Group announced a best November ever with total Canadian sales of 11,446 units for November 2018, an increase of 0.5 per cent year-over-year. Nissan Division also saw record monthly sales for November with 10,444 units sold, up 1.3 per cent year-over-year.
That's decent considering the Canadian auto market as a whole was down

Unfortunately, as has been the trend, the growth is almost entirely on the SUV / CUV side. Car sales continue to plummet. In fact ALL of Nissan's cars except the Leaf sold slower last month than in November a year ago.

So the bad news: only 324 Micras were sold. That's its slowest full month of sales since it was re-introduced to Canada. The Versa Note did even worse (263), which is unusual.

    December - ouch

Holy crap! Only 222 Micras sold last month.

That's the first time it has sold fewer than some months of Mirage sales in the same year!

That means it's another bad news/good news month: while the Micra is suffering, the company hit another record...

Nissan announced today the Nissan Group set an all-time calendar year sales record with 149,117 total Canadian sales in 2018 - an increase of 1.7 per cent over 2017. This marks six years of consecutive annual sales growth for the Nissan Group in Canada. For December 2018, Nissan Group reported its best December ever with total Canadian sales of 9,488 units, an increase of 1.1 per cent year-over-year.
