    February sales

    707 Micras sold last month.

Still the undeniable leader of the pack, but the numbers are below last Feb's. Just as Jan 2016 was below Jan 2015.

That's why I was wondering what new stuff Nissan had on tap for the 2016 Micra. Because with increasing competition from the new "Canada's cheapest car" Chevy Spark and also the redesigned 2017 Mirage coming next month, Nissan's got to try to keep things fresh.

    best March so far

1184 Micras sold in March = best March so far, 4th best month overall.

And another record month overall for the company:

Nissan Group today announced monthly Canadian sales of 12,601 units, an increase of 12.7 per cent over last year and the best March in the company’s history. This sales achievement marks 32 consecutive months of record sales for the Nissan Group in Canada. Nissan brand sales increased 12.9 per cent with 11,463 units sold, setting a new March sales record.

For the company’s 2015 fiscal year, Nissan set an all-time record with 133,770 total Canadian sales, an increase of 13.3 per cent over its 2014 fiscal year.

Spark & Mirage also had healthy bumps in sales in March (see post #1 for the tally). It seems like every company was offering steep discounts last month to clear out the 2015's.

The revised Mirage is just trickling into dealerships (no reviews yet). The sedan version supposedly arrives in June. The redesigned 2016 Spark is available now because GM is advertising it heavily (online anyway), and the reviews are starting. They show up on trader.ca.

I've seen one Spark review so far, and it was positive.

So the bump in Spark & Mirage sales in March was probably from big discounts on leftover 2015 models. The next couple of months will give us a better picture of things.

Yeah, I love the green. Mitsu offered the same green on the Mirage when it launched. Hot pink/purple too, if you like.

I wish Nissan had offered some more fun colours than they do. It would fit the image of the Micra as the more fun car.

    April sales

Another banner month for Nissan Canada:

Nissan Group today announced monthly Canadian sales of 12,148 units, an increase of 6.9 per cent over last year and the best April in the company’s history. This sales achievement marks 33 consecutive months of record sales for the Nissan Group in Canada.
Micra came in at 930 sales. Sales table updated in post 1.

    http://nissannews.com/en-CA/nissan/c...canadian-sales

And what about the new Spark? When I read the GM sales release, I was stunned:

Sales of the Chevrolet Spark are up 542 per cent
    542% Holy cow. Right??

But they didn't include a number! So I checked, and a year ago April they sold 45 Sparks! So they sold 289 new ones last month. Still only good enough for 3rd place with the Mirage in 2nd.
