Cool Drag Racing Micra! 1/4 mile

Well, like the title say, there a micra who as been drag racing at ICAR mirabel... and is it myself. XD (warning... long "story" incoming!)

So, there was a car meet all the day long the 28 august. For 10$, we are right and "legal" (old airport all remade for car events and stuff) to drag 1/4, burnout, drift course and a tarmac attack couse.

Yep, there a 1/4 mile drag there, so I did test the little micra on it... I was also my first time on a drag strip, so my "reaction time" was not on top, but that kinda normal! We where I all there for fun so there are no problem there. My best time at the 1/4 was 17,168s at 79.04 mph ((+/-140km/h, micra speedo) *Edit Opps, that wrong, srry big mistake, it is 127,2 km/h) ... top speed acceration it really not the strenght of the Micra we have. But I must say that, the first 330 feet I was capable and even catching a G35 (around 300 HP/ V6 engine) I even did the first 60 feet faster than him by 0.14sec. But I had a really good start and maybe it was not the case for him... anywait by the end of the 1/4 mile, he was going 93mph..versus me 79mph haha! Still only 1,15sec behind at the end! Also, i did calculated, with the micra "accurate" speedo that the 0 to 100km/h take around 9.5sec with everything stock and tires. (watch the video at the end)

There was also a tarmac attack course, that I did drive alot... so fun!!! As it was my first time at the tarmac attack, I did a 38 sec and by the the end I was doing around 30/31sec and my best was 30.4 sec (was still going faster and faster...). That really fast for the cars we do have and even I'm 100% stock on 1 years old 4 seasons tires. There was i driver from micra cup serie that did the tarmac attack in 29 sec something with he micra. I not so far from him and maybe he got some "micra cups" mods on is micra. :P

Even, some people with better cars, (acura NSX, G35, BMW 335 Xdrive, Nissan Altima, old mustang v6, subaru legacy... more) where not able to it keep up. They where even impress by my time and driving line for the cars we have. Well the micra is light, agile and "easy" to drive. With some experience, it can goes pretty good on small, curvy track/road. But I must also say that it not the cars that make a driver fast or good... it all the opposite. It also not anybody that are confident to drive fast or do racing thing.

By the end, I did meet alot of great people there at ICAR, everyone had fun (alway like that from I hear) and it was A beautifull day. You guys should came out one day, we could do a line full of Micra for the show and it not only about drag, drift or tarmac attack there. It for everyone that are passionate about cars stuff, meet and show shine, with a course for us.

Here a litlle video about the 1/4 mile

    I think that's 3 of us that have all done 17sec 1/4m. when I multiply 79x1.6 I get 126.4km/h when I did my run I was about 125+/- so that's pretty consistent.

    Kudos buddy!

That totally right! I just calculated it by a mph converter and 79.04 mph it 127,2 km/h... the +/-140km/h i did see was on the micra speedo... really off, really more that I thinked! =0

You might shave a few fractions of a sec off if you can eliminate the wheel spin. Fold in the mirrors, drop off the spare tire and tools, and keep the windows up with the A/C off, and who knows, you might even get into the mid 16's!

I really, really loathe how far off that speedometer is at highway speeds.

In our culture obsessed with absurd excess, the Nissan Micra is my counterculture car of choice.

And the list could go on and on and on... that true. :P But, only better tire then those stock one, will do a great difference at start. ;0

I've always liked Cooper Cobra GT's for a budget sticky tire...though I tend to wonder, if you go with stickier tires, would the clutch be able to hold up?

Well the micra cup have slick tire and the stock clutch still hold on pretty well, so I do think yes!

My Toyota was a 17 second car. Ran it occasionally at Cayuga. Watching your clip brings back memories!

I managed to get a 0-60 10S and my 1/4 in 16.8s i had 2 gps trackers and one said 16.9S with 98% accuracy and this one is 16.7S with 97% accuracy, here is the shot, i will be hitting the strip hopefully this summer if its open anyways, and see what i can get, ive been drag racing a few times and feel confident in this little cars launch i think with everything out of the shell including passenger seats, tools, and spare tire, i think i could get a solid 16.5 and 0-60 mid to high 9's. by no means a dragster but for 109hp its pretty good, will be hopefully racing a 75 camaro z28 and i plan to make it look silly.
