From prayers, to plans, to lurking to an over due intro and ...questions!

    Bought my First car!
Took the financing off a friend.
    2015 Micra Krom
with 11k already on the ODO, I'm planning on doubling it to 22k by the end of summer.
Living in Calgary, its so easy to live and explore the outdoors. Coming from Toronto, it felt like everything else didn't exist--guess its like how people would view New York City if they live there. Living in the West side is pretty awesome.

My question to the board and all of you guys would be:

What's the longest single distance you've driven your car?
and what are your trip prep procedures?
what are some essentials to bring along (maintenance wise)
Have you ever taken your car camping?

Planning on heading to Vancouver in three weeks time, have a few camping trips possibly planned in and around the rockies, and then, by the end of August, planning on driving to Toronto.

Its a super Tall order, and I'm planning on driving the snot out of the car. Just want to know all of my blind spots to prepare for them. Your advice would go a really long way.

    Thanks

    Welcome, piccolo!

Congrats on the car. Auto or manual? Feel free to make a garage page: add car

Agreed! Tons to do in Toronto, but the west can't be beat for scenery & outdoor activity.

We've had a bunch of members do long distance trips with their Micras: Ontario to Florida, Ontario to east coast, Gaspe peninsula camping trip. Did you see duffy49's post? BC to NFLD and they've already got 110k kms on theirs with tons of road trips including a small trailer.

I've drove mine twelve hours in one day. Change the oil every five thousand k and drive on. I have also slept in mine...not very comfortable but it can be done. Also put good synthetic oil in it and the valvetrain will love you. Welcome to the forum.

I have done a "aller-retour" from Montreal to Toronto in 1 day, so that's about 1000 KM.
Had back pain after the 10 hours drive.. lol

the single best addition you can do, for your healthy and safety, is put a plump, small pillow as lumbar seat, between you and the driver seat.

    especially essential for longer drives.

did 15 hour sraight in mine. Trenton, Ontario to Truro Nova Scotia.

I tell ya. I was tired and babbling about noodles afterwords, but I wasnt sore. Best advice I can give you is to stop when youre tired. Dont let the black dog bite you.

Aside from that. If your flyin solo, a cooler fits nicely in the passengers front footwell. Saves you a bit of coin if you hit a grocery store for snacks instead of gas stations. For the micra itself. Change out the oil before you go, and it will be fine.
