That was one of my complaints to Nissan, that they include a cover standard for the base S model. Went out and bought a tupperwear container for such items that could become lethal weapons! (like a can of spam). Not that it would open hitting your head, but imagine the mess if it did! Also as a deterrent for certain items. I even got the spiel from my dad about decals on the sides and back blocking your view.

Our garden is going crazy productive this year, so I decided to order a chest freezer (5.1 cubic footer). I emailed friends to see who might have a pick-up truck to help me pick it up from the store. Then, as an afterthought, I took the measurements from the website, and checked my Micra. Turned out it not only fit (easily), but I could even close the hatch. I was so surprised!

When I first bought my Micra, I had to make sure that my oversized mountain bike would fit:

I was able to fit a dolly's worth of meters (with the dolly) in the back of my Micra:

Then we went to Florida. Micra made it a very cheap yet fun family trip.

Note I had to leave the straps off the rear shelf, because it would not open properly loaded to this capacity.

If I have to do this again, I'd leave the rear shelf at home and stack the soft things (ie; jackets) behind the headrests.

In our culture obsessed with absurd excess, the Nissan Micra is my counterculture car of choice.

That's quite a load, very impressive! When we went on our trip to Winnipeg from Edmonton this past summer, we decided to leave the rear shelf at home to fit 4 adult's worth of luggage behind the rear seats. On our next long trip to Vegas & Death Valley and back, we're bringing the rear shelf since it will be just my wife and I going.
