Fuel Gauge Problems after Rear End Collision...

After my collision back in January 25, 2016, I finally received the car on March 22, 2016. As I was about to drive away from the dealership, I noticed the fuel gauge flashing and showing no bars for fuel. I was told this was due to no fuel, i.e. completely empty (strange since I know that there was a quarter tank at the time of the collision). I managed to get to gas station and told him to fill a given number of liters, which should have given me a partial fill. The pump stopped midway, and the attended stated it was completely full. The gauge displayed half a tank! Something isn't right. The gauge magically displayed a full tank a week later. A few days afterwards it displayed a blinking gauge showing totally empty, then a few minutes later full again.

Has anyone experienced this type of problem and suggest the solution? I suspect the sender unit in the tank. The car is going back to the dealer on Monday.

That is likely the sending unit or even a bad ground or connection.
