Does anyone know how to open the Micra key?

    Hey folks.

I would like to replace the existing key with a foldable key like this one, but don't know if it would fit, and don't know how to open the case. I was able to remove the screw in the middle, but can't open the case at all...

    Thanks

I don't think you need to. It's looks like they give you a blank which you take to a key cutter and they copy the original to the blank. Now you have the original and a flip.

You should transfer the original if possible because of the immobilizer correct?

The immobilizer signal would come from the fob. So swapping the metal part wouldn't help.
I'm assuming the signal for the immobilizer would be transferred when you transfer the fob signal for locking/unlocking your doors.
    I could be wrong tho.

You transfer the guts I believe. The key is not removable from the fob. Apologies if this does not work as I'm uploading from my phone.

    Remove screw (#1 phillips)

There appears to be a passive component here top left, that may be the immobilizer

Then that is the part with the signal for the immobilizer. Cool.

    thanks guys.
In fact, i need to move the original electronic pieces to the fob, and bring the key to Canadian tires for a cut. Then i will have a foldable key. BTW, if you bring the key to Canadian Tires to cut, the guy over there will probably don't know how to charge you, because they have the charge code for the key (assuming you will buy the key from them) but don't have the charge code for the cutting service. so they give me for free twice... go on a not busy day..

The benefit of having foldable key... aside from style, the original key sometimes would poke through my pants, could cause injuries to your thighs if you wear tight jeans and seat down. it can get stuck in your pocket by the lines inside your pocket... so I always get a folable key.

Its going to take 2 weeks for the key to arrive, will post picture then.

    sorry for my poor english.

I have been thinking of doing this as I saw the folding fobs on Amazon. Thanks for taking the plunge.
