This is cool: Nissan Canada has been in touch, and they offered to make a Micra expert available to answer questions about the car.

I can think of a couple to start:

1) Why no CVT?

2) Looking for clarification: In the list of modifications made to the car specifically for Canada, steering is mentioned. The Nissan press release said the turning radius was tightened, but I read elsewhere that the steering ratio was changed (which could be fun -- some reviews of the UK Micra say the steering isn't particularly responsive).

Here's another one:

3) Flat towing/dinghy towing: is the Micra the same as the Versa? Meaning, (A) you can't tow the automatic at all with four-wheels-down, and (B) when towing the manual in neutral, you must run the engine every 800 km? (From: http://micra-forum.com/showthread.ph...5-Nissan-Micra )

4) Why can't you get air conditioning as an option on the base manual Micra S MT without moving up to Micra SV MT trim level? And why can't you get an automatic base Micra S 4AT without air conditioning?

Alpha: Good one - I like your #6.

I was just reading about the Ford Fiesta 1.0L - it has an extra tall 5th gear and the best highway MPG rating for a non-hybrid (tall enough that one reviewer commented you need to downshift to 4th on moderate inclines). I don't mind downshifting.

7. Where on the engine is the best place to mount a temperature sending unit for a proper aftermarket temperature gauge?

8. Similar to #7, where is the best place on the engine to put an oil pressure gauge sending unit for an aftermarket oil pressure gauge?

9. Should we run synthetic oil in our new Micra's, or is conventional motor oil just as good in the 1.6L?
