Battery died after 2 weeks without driving...

I went away for a couple of weeks and the battery is totally dead. Nothing, nada....

It is up at the dealership right now being charged but this isn't good, is it?

You'd think it would last more than 2 weeks.

I mean, when the car is parked there are more "phantom" draws on a battery than there used to be (features like remote unlocking, etc), but it should have been OK for that long.

    Yes, the owner's manual says:

If the vehicle is not going to be used for 30 days or longer, disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal cable to prevent discharge.

I had a defective battery in my micra which the dealer replaced under warranty. The first real bout of cold and it struggled to turn over the motor.

Just got a phone call from the dealership. They want to keep it overnight as it did not totally charge on the charger this afternoon. It did get cold here while I was away.... but I don't think it was cold for a car battery.

    Hope to know more tomorrow.

As a point of reasurrance. When I was up north last year, she turned over in -35 (without windchill, as I dont think the car feels windchill).

Battery is probably a dud. It happens.

Just experienced troubles turning over the engine after my Micra was siting for a couple of days in the cold. Going to drop by the dealership, could be a possible battery defect too.

highly highgly recommend you get those portable Li ion chargers/jump starters

no, there's not the huge bulky ones, they're about the size of two decks of cards, and can even charge your USB devices. really cool. a life saver.
