    Loose Heat Shield

Brought the Micra to the dealer today, was making a horrible racket. Knew it was either a loose heat shield or a broken hanger.

They said it was a heat shield, they fixed it under warranty...also did the recall work while it was in there.

The heat shields didn't fall off our Focus till it had like 250k on it:P

Just had mine replaced under warranty. Mine was the section that goes over the rear suspension bar, the next to the fuel tank.

Yes, mine was looked after about 3 months ago, still a bit of noise at around 900 rpm. :-(

    Anybody figured out why/how they're coming off/loose?

Are these the types that are attached to the exhaust pipe, or on brackets attached to the underbody?

Reason I asked: I recently picked up an '04 Prius for this year's winter beater, and it has both types. A small one that's actually mounted on the exhaust pipe is coming off... I figure that type would be more likely to corrode.

Surely this problem isn't due to corrosion on the Micra.
