Are we "connected"? (Can the Micra be hacked?)

The Jeep hack (http://www.wired.com/2015/07/hackers...-jeep-highway/) story has a lot of people concerned about safety AND privacy.

I started thinking this is another reason to be happy with my Micra S (with no upgrades) purchase. Then I read the following article: http://www.thestar.com/news/privacy-...ew-report.html. Note the picture of the Micra being assembled in Mexico.

So are our Micras connected to the internet?

There is no wifi with the SR Micra, only bluetooth.

but I would be more worried about car hackers than privacy...especially for those who have a wifi network or Uconnect in their car.

this whole CAN bus thing that's used by different car parts to communicate with the infotainment console....does Micra use that?

I don't think the Micra's are "connected" in any way. The highest end model doesn't even have a GPS option, only bluetooth. If it was as "connected" as some of these other cars lately, it would probably be more expensive.

The Jeep was hacked through a built-in cell network communications feature. (And I read yesterday the same Jeep model in Canada doesn't even come with that feature because we don't have the same extent of cell coverage that the US has, so they left it out.)

I think it's safe to say there's nothing to worry about like this on the Micra!

I wonder. I see the mirror caps and the fog lights, but don't see side sills. And those tires look smaller than our 185 width 16's. Maybe a Mexican or centra/south American market uplevel car?

Actually, it does not look like the SR since there is no side skirt and it has regular 15 inches wheels. But there is no wifi in the SR anyway. No way to connect to the internet at all.
