Startup Tips for cold weather or after storage

I was reading about engine noises after startup that only lasted a few seconds in a Mazda Miata forum.
I figured I would try it on my Micra this morning & it worked great.
While holding the throttle to the floor the engine would spin fast without starting but as soon as I
released the gas pedal the engine started & ran smoothly.

On my older cars, I would just pull the coil wire so I could spin the engine and get oil moving before I wanted it to fire up.

Not as easy to do on the Micra.
