Hi!
I went to the nearest dealership today hoping to test drive a Micra sv with the 5 speed mt but they didn't have any. If fact,
it seems the inventory for the sv 5mt is pretty low for the whole province (!?) So to try and get the feel of the clutch I drove a Versa Note instead. It had been a while since I drove a mt but it felt good. The last manual I had was a Mazda Protege and while it was fun to drive it was also causing me pain in my knee when in traffic.
I did get to try an auto Micra but I found it a bit sluggish. Less lively than the 2001 Toyota Echo auto I still had 2 years ago. Or is it just an impression of my failing memory??
Otherwise I am just totally attracted to the Micra and am seriously considering buying a 5s mt sv even if it means getting some knee pain down the line!
When I ordered my 2018.5 S 5MT mid-September, I was told there were none available in Canada by one dealership. Another told me they had one "in production", and I could have that one. Fortunately, it was the colour I wanted. As of today, I'm still waiting for it. It has supposedly left production last week... It's been a long wait.
There was no MT to test drive, but was impressed with the drivability of the Micra as a whole. Internal space is good too.
So, the 2018.5 S is some $500 more expensive, but that's for the mandated backup camera with 7" touch display head unit with streaming bluetooth and steering wheel mounted controls. A worthy upgrade, even if I had no choice in the matter.
Welcome to the forum, Planetman!
What colour did you order?
$500 more for the base S? That's interesting. I wonder if Chevrolet & Mitsubishi will raise their base Spark & Mirage that much as well.
Good idea. I tell people to do this too. Same drivetrain - same gear ratios, even!
Power is very similar: 109 hp (Micra) vs. 108 hp (Echo).Quote:

Curb weight is where the older Echo had a big advantage: 1044 kg (2302 lbs) Micra vs. 923 kg (2035 lbs) Echo
ooh i forgot about that....a backup camera is mandatory...but 500 dollars for it!!
Yes, $500 does seem a tad excessive, but I guess the 7" touch screen head unit makes it smart a little less. Will be "interesting" driving around with just two cheap speakers attached to that stereo unit...
I get to pick it up this week. S MT in black.
i wonder if the wiring is there...probably only one way to know for sure!
i hope your happy with the car, I certainly am.( for the price)
i made my own cover for the cargo back area if your interested, i made a template, its a sticky (proud)
